World Class Inspection TechnologyProducts Banner

No two inspection applications share the same conditions, challenges, and requirements. Which is why our gauging, process verification and sorting systems use an array of different technologies to better meet each application's unique demands. Lasers precisely measure all external features to print specifications at speeds up to 5 parts per second. Vision is used to detect cracks, defective recesses, and internal threads. Eddy current technologies detect metallurgical variations, material displacements and mass anomalies.

LaserLab

The LaserLab is the world's first three dimensional bench-top laser inspection system. It's fast, accurate, shop floor rugged and inexpensive. It allows SPC sampling supplier audits and first article inspection up to one thousand times faster than with traditional manual gauging techniques.

LaserLabsetup.jpgUsing General Inspection's leading laser technology, the LaserLab accurately measures diameters, lengths, tapers, straightness, concentricity and threads to print dimensions with exact results every time. And it greatly reduces part to part variability by eliminating operator error.

An innovative part handling system allows quick and easy loading. And after every pass the laser beams are all automatically calibrated to NIST standards ensuring accuracy.

Now high volume parts manufacturers can invest capital into technology that dramatically improves quality, efficiency and brings dramatic savings to the shop floor.

The LaserLab makes the manufacturing process more precise so you can sample more often, get real time control of your manufacturing processes and get zero.

Sorting

With more than 600 installations worldwide, General Inspection, LLC develops and markets high speed, 100% measuring/sorting equipment. The equipment enables highly precise 2D and/or 3D measurements, of high volume parts and components before they are introduced into production. This will help with eliminating costly process jams and malfunctions.

Gi sorting equipment, with easy to use standard software, is leading the way toward zero defect quality. Its’ equipment is used by companies around the world in production and quality control, for applications including: automotive, aerospace, industrial, railway, medical and furniture manufacturing.

General Inspection’s product range includes measuring/sorting machines like the Gi-100 used to 100% inspect flat parts such as nuts, bushings, washers, etc… Or the Gi-200/Gi-300 used to 100% measure cylindrical parts like bolts, screws, tubes and pins. And the Gi-360 that 100% measures cylindrical parts in 3D, capable of detecting damage, straightness and min/max material along the full length of components.

Gi also offers all products with a “turn-key” option (hoppers, feeders and packaging equipment).

GI-300

The Gi-300 is an automated 100% laser sorting system. Tilt head laser technology, precision narrow laser beams, multi laser velocity gauge, split laser beam and three wire modeling - with true system 22 thread measuring capability - are all Gi's inventions. They're used to accurately measure lengths, diameters and tapers.

GI-300

The tilt head laser automatically positions itself to the appropriate angle to remove cosine error. Time saving software measures external features and easily scrolls across the screen to display every feature's details. A three wire thread modeling technique is used to measure many thread characteristics on every part. The laser optics system with its narrow/split laser beam allows accurate proportions of small non-symmetric features. And the multi-laser array accurately measures variations in the velocity of the part achieving extremely precise lengths.

Eddy Current and Vision sensors are options that can be added to detect defects such as missing internal features, broken recesses, cracks, heat-treat and plating variations.

The Gi-300 measures external dimensions to print, ensuring out of tolerance parts are rejected. If dimensional inspection is critical to your needs, then the Gi-300 is critical on your path to zero.

GI-200

The Gi-200 is an automated laser gauging/sorting system. Lengths, diameters, threads and tapers are measured by laser and optical sensors at up to 400 parts per minute. Every part is inspected before entering the assembly operation, eliminating costly downtime caused by jam-ups.
GI-200

As with all of our machines, data reports, multi-sensor velocity gauges, NIST traceable diameter calibration, network service and true part storage/retrieval are all available on the Gi-200.

Sorting Products

This Gi 200 is ideal for cylindrical parts (parts without heads), or near cylindrical parts - parts that have small cosine error. No special operator training is necessary and set up time is approximately five minutes. Eddy Current and Vision sensors are options that can be added to detect defects such as missing internal features, broken recesses, cracks, heat-treat and plating variations. For a low cost, the G-200 measures each part and throws out defects that don't meet blueprint tolerances so you can provide zero foreign parts to your customers.

Thread Inspection

NCTP-300: Industrial Computer Controlled Non-Contact Thread Inspection Instrument

NCTP-300

The NCTP-300 is a non-contact thread inspection instrument controlled using an industrial, touch screen computer developed to "error proof" automatic machining processes such as threading.

Spring-loaded, inductive probes sense internal threads by the amount of metal removed or displaced in the tapping / rolling operation. Variations in shape and amount of metal in the electromagnetic field are detected and displayed on a 3-D image with hole locations and identification.

Three modes of communication are available; Remote I/O, Local I/O and RS232 for machine control are standard.

Probes are designed specifically to work in harsh manufacturing environments. Unlike other thread detection instruments, which require clean and dry parts, the NCTP’s accuracy is not affected by coolant or oil. Threading processes are 100% verified in-line assuring defects are detected as soon as they occur.

The inductive probes are spring loaded to avoid damage from broken taps or mislocated holes. The probes spring back when contact is made causing the voltage reading to remain outside the accept tolerance causing a part rejection.

Eddy-Current Technology

General Inspection's Eddy-Current Technology is completely digital with multiple frequencies. It can inspect a wide range of materials and detect metallurgical defects such as cracks, seams, hardness variations, plating variations and missing features - like grooves, chamfers and threads, keyways, knurls, etc...

GI-Vision System

The Gi-Vision System was designed specifically for high-speed inspection of fasteners and screw machine parts. It is used to detect defects such as cracks, defective recesses, internal chips, missing internal features (threads, chamfers, grooves) and surface imperfections. It can also measure I.D., O.D., concentricity, and roundness.

Feeders

Each feed system is equipped with metering to provide proper part spacing. This eliminates false rejects caused by parts traveling  too closely together through the sensing zones. A custom feeder, designed around your part range, is a critical element of the complete GI system that gets you to zero.
